Iran has announced that potential contracts in the energy, mining, and aircraft sectors are on the table in its nuclear negotiations with the United States.
Hamid Qanbari, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, told the Fars News Agency on Sunday, February 15, that for any agreement to endure, the United States must also benefit from joint economic projects in oil and gas, mining, and aircraft purchases.
Iran emphasized that the 2015 nuclear deal failed to guarantee economic benefits for the United States and that any new agreement must deliver economic benefits for both parties.
Meanwhile, the United States has deployed a second aircraft carrier to the region and is preparing for the possibility of a prolonged military operation should the negotiations fail.
A U.S. delegation led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner is scheduled to meet Iranian officials in Geneva on Tuesday.
