India Sent Food Aid to 5,000 Afghan Migrants Deported from Pakistan

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced that the Indian government has provided food assistance for 5,000 migrants deported from Pakistan. On Tuesday, 20 May 2025, the ministry reported that approximately eleven types of food items were distributed to migrants in Kabul.

Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, stated that India’s humanitarian aid has reached those in need at a critical time. The Taliban have called on the international community to cooperate with them in addressing the situation of returnees.

The ministry also noted that 83 new settlements will be constructed across 31 provinces of the country to accommodate returnees. These efforts aim to provide long-term support and housing for those affected by the mass deportations.

India’s aid to the Taliban comes as relations between New Delhi and the group have strengthened amid evolving political dynamics and Pakistan’s regional policies.
