European Union Provides Over $4 Million to WFP in Afghanistan

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan has announced a $4.6 million contribution from the European Union.

In a statement released on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the programme said the funds are designated for the United Nations’ humanitarian air services in Afghanistan.

The statement read: “This support ensures that UN air services can continue operating, maintaining a vital link for the safe movement of aid workers and the delivery of essential assistance to some of Afghanistan’s most remote communities.”

The WFP added that currently, more than 100 humanitarian organisations, UN agencies, and diplomatic missions are registered users of these air services in Afghanistan.

According to the programme, UN air services have conducted over 1,600 flights so far this year.
