Nabi Saqi, an Oxford University researcher from Dawlat Yar district in Ghor province, says the Taliban have threatened his family with forced displacement due to his critical writings.
On Tuesday, September 17, Saqi announced on Facebook that local Taliban forces had ordered his family to leave their home.
“For the past month, the local Taliban have held the threat of displacement over my family, demanding they abandon their hometown,” he wrote.
Saqi noted that efforts by locals to resolve the issue have been unsuccessful.
He emphasized that his critical writings against the Taliban have put his family at risk.
Documents obtained by The Hasht-e Subh Daily reveal that the Taliban governor in Dawlat Yar has also ordered the forced displacement of several other families. He warned that any delay in carrying out the order would result in severe consequences for those involved.
Over the past three years, the Taliban have taken various forms of revenge against their opponents.
