The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced the construction of a health center in the Qaysar district of Faryab province.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees stated on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in a message on its X page that this center has been built to enhance people’s access to medical services.
According to the statement, the new health center will provide improved services to thousands of people, particularly women and children.
The statement notes that the health center is equipped with advanced medical facilities and is set to open soon.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees added that this center will offer a wide range of services to thousands of residents in the area.
The agency further mentioned that the new health center has more than 30 rooms and dozens of beds, serving as a vital healthcare facility for several districts and provinces.
According to the statement, before the construction of this center, there was only one health facility in the region, which lacked the capacity to serve multiple districts.
It is worth noting that some time ago, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees reported that Afghanistan’s healthcare system is “fragile and under-resourced.”
The findings of this report indicate that 13.2 million people across 34 provinces live in areas where primary healthcare services are not accessible within a one-hour walk.
