Local sources report that unidentified gunmen shot and killed at least 11 residents of Daikundi province in a border area with Ghor province. Sources have told the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the attack occurred on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in the Qariodal mountain pass between Ghor and Daikundi.
The attack also left five others wounded, sources said. They explained that the incident happened after several Daikundi residents went to welcome pilgrims returning from Karbala. The number of casualties may rise, the sources added.
No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Taliban have remained silent on the matter.
